Grey watched Etti pace the kitchen, raking her hands through her raven-black hair in frustration. He hated that he had to add even more stress to her life right now. But this wasn’t something he could keep from his wife. There was too much at stake.

“Okay,” Etti said, still pacing. “How much time do you think we have?”

“The blood has probably bought Malcolm a week, two if we ration it. But I doubt it’ll take Mama Tish that long to sniff us out.”

“Then we have to find a way to hide Malcolm. If she finds a vampire living with us there’s no way we can deny it. Plus, she’ll kill him.”

“Do you really think so?” Grey asked.

“Deana almost drove a stake through his heart and she’s much more tolerant than the rest of the coven.”

Grey sighed. “You’re right. But Malcolm’s not my biggest concern at the moment. If the sub leads the vampires back to us and they find out what we are . . . werewolves living in the Quarter . . .”

Etti stopped pacing, the rest of the color draining from her face as she realized what he was saying. “They’ll execute us.”

“If you have any tricks up your sleeves, now’s the time,” he urged.

“Maybe one . . .” Etti said, quietly.

Grey knew that look. The one where her eyes grew dark and she chewed her bottom lip. She was about to suggest something he wasn’t going to like.

“Etti . . .”

“Just hear me out before you say no.”
